Dean has been a supporter of Step It Up, Inc. since 2007 and joined the board after retiring from Pacificorp. He has been assisting the organization with strategic planning and the development of a business plan for the next five years. His focus is on getting the organization into a sustainable position within that time period to build our capacity to serve Oregon students statewide.

Nick found our organization’s website and was immediately inspired to help support the youth we serve. He is a Senior Engineer with R&D at ClearEdge Power, Inc. and mentoring one of our youth interested in an engineering career. Nick’s focus as a board member is to help develop the organization’s capacity to serve greater numbers of youth to meet the need for youth career development programs.
Susanna M. Morehouse

Susanna recently joined SIU as a board member because of her past four year commitment to the organization’s success, her strong belief in the mission and vision, and her eagerness to assist with fundraising. She is a retired employee of Fred Meyer and has provided SIU access to the company’s private grant application process. She is also a Floral Designer with years of event planning experience.

Carol has extensive nonprofit and financial management expertise to help SIU increase its effectiveness and ROI. She also has experience in mentoring middle and high school aged youth, and believes deeply that all youth “need to know that someone cares about their success… and cares enough to give of their time to see that the child has access to information, guidance, and love”.
Ricardo A. Garcia

Ricardo represents the best possible outcome from the SIU Internship Program as the first person in his family to graduate high school and move on from working at a fast food venue earning minimum wage to working at an electrical engineering firm earning a living wage. This success is a direct result of his internship opportunity and hard work at his internship site. Ricardo is eager to expand the capacity of SIU to serve more youth. He now has two sisters involved with our programs!

Sprina is a graduate of Oberlin College where she majored in Biology and African American Studies. Her energy and enthusiasm for our mission is inspiring for the board to accomplish its responsibilities. She also brings a wide spectrum of volunteer experience, which the organization puts to good use. She recently enrolled in the Gonzaga University Master’s Program for Organization Development.
