Career Club

Is the Career Club free? Yes, the Career Club is free for all students.

When does Career Club take place? Career Club takes place during the school year, from 4-6 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays. Wednesdays are added if there are too many teens for Mondays and Tuesdays. Contact SIU to learn the current dates for Career Club.

Pre-Internship

Is the Pre-Internship Program free? Yes, the program is free for all students.

Can I participate in the Pre-Internship Program even if I am not attending a Portland Public high school? Yes, we welcome all youth who are interested in exploring careers, colleges, and their skills and interests. You do, however, have to be enrolled, or enrolling, in a high school to be eligible, and we cannot guarantee that you will receive school-credit for your participation.

Can I participate even if I am already committed to another summer program? Depending on the schedule of your program, you may or may not be able to participate. Contact programs@stepitupinc.org if you are unsure if you would be able to participate and we will work with you to plan your schedule.

How many credits do I receive for completing the Pre-Internship Program? You receive .5 credits towards your Career Related Learning Experience Graduation Requirement for 65 documented hours, or one summer of the Pre-Internship Program. Some school districts do not except these credits, and SIU will try to work with you and your counselor to be sure that your credit is applied.
