Welcome to our Public Relations section! Good public relations are becoming more and more important to attract and retain community interest, customers, and employees. Step It Up, Inc. assists its business partners by marketing the services our business partners provide for our youth, programs, and organization because the public likes to support those businesses that support the work of nonprofit organizations! Its a win-win for both of us! We love to tell the world how our business partners' support helps to decrease the high school drop-out rate, increase local employment opportunities, and increase the education level of their employees - all for the benefit of our economy. These are the businesses the best new employees are attracted to for a mutually beneficial career because they want to give back to their communities and they expect their employer to also. "Instead of furloughs, consider letting employees volunteer" Combining employee leave programs with furloughs can build critical goodwill This article by Damian Smith, VP of Hitachi Consulting and leader of their Portland office, suggests that businesses, "Offer workers an opportunity to volunteer to take furlough or reduced hours at some pay (maybe 25 percent of salary) as long as they use the time to volunteer."
