Internship Program

This program, available to selected high school juniors, helps students define their career interests, experience their chosen career field first-hand through an internship with a relevant business partner and/or informational interviews with experts in their career field, begin the college and scholarship application process, and obtain high school graduation credit. Accepted students also attend a series of workshops and learn basic business practices, resume tips, and interview skills. The internship program also helps students build important relationships that will be helpful in pursuing future educational and career goals.

Step It Up, Inc. is unique in that we work with each student to help them develop career-relevant internship activities that are specific to their individual career interest(s). There is no generic list of internships, rather Step It Up works with the student to help them chose an internship within their chosen field(s). Some examples of previous internship program career fields that students have explored include:

• Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
• E-marketing
• Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedic
• Interior Design & Space Planning
• Law & Legal Assistance
• Medical Research
• Nursing

• Urban Planning

Internship Program eligibility requirements include:      

• Junior in High School
• Minimum 2.50 GPA
• Successfully completed at least 2 years of math (Algebra or Geometry)
• Good attendance at school
