Volunteer Opportunities For Our Programs:  

Become a Career Coach with Step It Up, Inc.!

Step It Up, Inc. is seeking volunteers to assist with our after school and summer Career Club. Step It Up’s Career Club is a year-round program that prepares teens and young adults, ages 13-24, for career and college success.

Youth are supported through assessment of personal talents and career interests; development of communication, teamwork, networking, and leadership skills; and creation of guidelines for efficient time and financial management. Throughout these workshops, there is an emphasis on the development of effective relationship-building skills that youth will use the rest of their lives.

As a Career Coach, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting youth one-on-one to complete required workshops
  • Researching, with youth, informational interview opportunities
  • Researching, with youth, job shadow options
  • Researching, with youth, summer internship options
  • Researching, with youth, college and scholarship options (ASPIRE Advisor)
  • Making sure all activities are recorded through our online system

By being a Career Coach, you will be providing Step It Up, Inc. youth with the support they need to achieve their educational and career goals. You can help change a youth's life by giving them the opportunity to pursue their career interests and expand what they thought possible, and for many of them, break out of the cycle of poverty and succeed.

Orientation to Step It Up, Inc., ASPIRE, and workshop training to will be provided to you as a volunteer. Training will take place on Saturday, March 31st, from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.

Qualifications for the Career Coach are:

  • Interest in working with high school and/or college aged youth
  • A GREAT Listener
  • Talent and patience to explore the internet with youth
  • Ability to follow and give instruction diplomatically
  • Must pass a background check
  • Ability to volunteer on a regular basis, preferably 4-8 hours/month, during school year
  • Optional: Drive youth to business partner sites and college campuses during summer
