Holiday Volunteer Opportunity:

• Wrap Presents with Step It Up!

Do you have 4 hours on a Friday or Saturday to help support Step It Up, Inc.'s programs? We have been invited to wrap presents at the Paramount Hotel in downtown Portland while collecting donations to support our youth career development programs. Times are every Friday and Saturday from November 25-December 17 from 4-6 pm, and 12-4 pm December 19-24. We will be having a wrapping training on November 16, 2011 for those interested.

Volunteer Opportunities For Our Programs:

• Become a Career Coach with Step It Up, Inc.!

Step It Up, Inc. is seeking volunteers to assist with our after school Career Club, where youth improve writing, communication, and computer skills, learn about financial literacy, discover personal talents and strengths, get assistance with college and scholarship applications, explore career fields through site visits and interviews, and listen to career stories from experts.

As a Career Coach, you will be responsible for:

• Assisting youth with activities during the after school Career Club, and making sure the activity is recorded on the youth's tracking sheet
• Assisting the Program Coordinator during workshops, field trips, and activities
• Committing to attend one day a week (Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday), 4-6 p.m., starting in January

By being a career coach, you will be providing Step It Up, Inc. youth with the support they need to achieve their educational and career goals. You can help change a youth's life by giving them the opportunity to pursue their goals and interests and expand what they thought possible.

Orientation to Step It Up, Inc. and its programs will be provided.

Qualifications for the Career Coach are:

• Interest in working with youth
• Ability to follow and give instruction
• Must pass a background check
• Ability to commit to volunteer one day a week ((Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday), 4-6 p.m., preferably for one year if possible
